Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues the world faces. Every year, approximately 8 million tons of plastic waste escapes into the oceans from coastal nations. That’s the equivalent of setting five garbage bags full of trash on every foot of coastline around the world.

Limited Waste

Due to the hire nature of our business and the strength and longevity of our pontoon modules we actually have very little waste from our installs. Equipment is used, returned to our yard, cleaned and put back out on hire. We keep on top of maintaining our pontoons and equipment to ensure longevity.

Damaged Floats

Occasionally, our pontoons do get damaged and when that happens, they are deemed unsafe to use and no longer in a position to be hired out. With the only option for these floats seemingly being to end up in a landfill, we were keen to find an environmentally friendly alternative.

Odyssey Innovation

Recovering marine waste since 2014, their Marine Regeneration Scheme allows for marine plastics to be recycled and converted back into products such as kayaks, body surfing handplanes, tote boxes and recycling bins. By putting recycled plastic back into the economy, the scheme also has a significant CO2 saving over new virgin plastic and decreases emissions from incineration and landfill waste disposal. Since teaming up with Odyssey Innovation in 2021 we have delivered in excess of 180sqm of damaged pontoon to Exeter City Council with whom Odyssey operate.
