Floating Pontoon Hire under bridge access platform with scaffold for rail bridge inspection and maintenance works

Pontoon uses for Rail

The uses of pontoon in the rail industry are broad. Installations may vary from something as simple as a single day inspection pontoon measuring 4m by 4m, fitted with an outboard engine, through to full access walkways for scour repair and large-scale work platforms spanning the width of a river. Completed installations are suitable for scaffolding as well as plant and machinery.

Pontoon Capabilities

With a safe working load of up to 350kg per square meter and a maximum load of up to 650kg per square meter, our pontoons have the capacity to support plant and machinery with ease. When correctly spread, over 8 tonnes of plant can easily be supported on just a 6x8m pontoon. In collaboration with marine structural engineers, we are able to provide stability and buoyancy calculations to verify safe operation.

Modular Capabilities

The modular nature of our system, each unit of which measures .5m by .5m, allows us to meet the limitless requirements of your project. Whether you need a pontoon to fit tightly around columns and piers, or you need to bridge the gap between land and the worksite, we provide the platform to make your job easier and much safer for your workforce.

Transport & Installation

The modular nature of the system lends itself to quick and easy delivery and installation. Our 3.5T dropside trucks work well in small access yards. Often, we launch the pontoon by crane and either tow by boat or push with outboards to the required location. We own several workboats and have fully qualified commercially endorsed skippers on staff. In extreme cases the pontoons may be broken down and carried by hand if necessary.
