Scope of Works
The brief called for a stable, modular floating base capable of supporting a wide variety of purpose-built obstacles, seesaws, wall rides, log skinnies, a ladder bridge, zigzag switchbacks and a narrow finishing “tightrope” section, stretching roughly 200 metres across the lake – in true Red Bull style. The course needed to test elite mountain bike riders, including Danny MacAskill and Kriss Kyle, growing progressively harder from start to finish, while still being safe to install, ride, and dismantle after filming.
Solution
Floating Pontoon Hire supplied modular pontoons to form the floating platform underpinning the course, providing a stable yet dynamic base on which to construct the obstacles. The modular format allowed the 200m structure to be configured to the exact layout needed across the lake, supporting everything from rolling balance features to the narrow skinny finale. Whilst withstanding repeated impacts, falls, and rider weight throughout a full day of filming with both amateur and professional riders.
