Double-Stacked Pontoon for Excavator Access for Landscaping Works

Scope of Works

A landscaping and habitat improvement project at Ewell Court Lake required a 5-tonne excavator to be positioned on an island within the lake to dig out material and reshape the island as part of the wider works. With no vehicle access to the island itself, and the surrounding lake bordered by dense tree cover, a floating platform was needed that could safely support the excavator’s weight while manoeuvring into a tight, naturally constrained site.

Solution

Floating Pontoon Hire supplied 96m² of double-stacked modular pontoon, providing the buoyancy and stability needed to carry the 5-tonne excavator across the water and onto the island. The double-stacked configuration gave the platform the load capacity required for the machine to operate safely while digging out and landscaping material, with the pontoon’s modular build allowing it to be manoeuvred through the site’s confined, tree-lined access despite the limited working space.
