If you’ve ever spent anytime staring out of the window on a train journey, you’ll be well aware that the majority of trainlines are pretty isolated cutting through our green and pleasant land. That in turn means that when work on rail bridges are required, access isn’t always simple when it comes to getting kit to and from site.
Thankfully our pontoons offer the perfect solution for this and thats exactly what we’ve been doing just this week in Shalford in Surrey.
Bridge repairs dictated that scaffolding was required on a rail bridge crossing The River Wey. However with the nearest road being over a mile from the bridge the scaffolding team were going to have a long walk with all of their equipment. Luckily for them our pontoons provided the perfect solution!
The pontoons were launched from a layby alongside the road and fitted with combisafe edge protection and an outboard motor. The scaffolding equipment was then loaded onto the pontoon and using the attached outbaord motor we were able to move the pontoon, the equipment and a few crew who didn’t fancy the walk along the towpath up to the bridge to crack on with the install.
