Earlier this year we had the opportunity to work alongside D3 Events on a slightly different project – helping to create Red Bull’s Impossible Floating Obstacle Course.
Our modular pontoons were used to form part of the floating course, which was then put to the test by a group of professional mountain bike riders.
The Brief
This wasn’t a conventional pontoon installation.
D3 Events were tasked with creating a floating obstacle course for Red Bull, with riders required to make their way across a series of increasingly difficult features without ending up in the water.
Our role was to provide and install the modular pontoon elements required to help bring the course together.
Building the Course
One of the main advantages of modular pontoon is the flexibility it gives when creating unusual shapes and layouts.
For this project, the pontoon needed to work as part of the obstacle course itself, rather than simply providing access or a working platform.
Working alongside the D3 Events team, the installation was assembled and positioned ready for the various obstacles and riding features to be incorporated into the finished course.
A Different Kind of Pontoon Project
Most of our work involves trying to create stable, practical access over water.
This project was slightly different – the whole idea was to make things difficult for the people using it.
There were some long, hot days involved in getting everything installed, but seeing the completed course being used made it well worth the effort.
The Finished Result
The finished course was put to the test by professional riders, with varying levels of success and more than a few trips into the water.
Our aim is usually to keep people out of the water, but for this one we were happy to make an exception.

Modular Pontoon for Events and Unusual Projects
