Working over water often means limited access, awkward ground conditions and very little space for plant.
Our modular pontoons can provide a stable floating platform for lifting gantries, spider cranes, MEWPs, pumping equipment and other specialist plant. Rather than being restricted to access from the bank, equipment can be positioned directly over, beside or around the work area.
This can be particularly useful for bridge works, reservoirs, canals, docks, quarries and other restricted-access sites.
Built around the load
Each floating pontoon setup is designed around the equipment being used. This includes the plant footprint, working area, access route, edge protection, anchoring and loading requirements.
As a guide, our standard pontoon system has a working load of 175kg per m². Where higher buoyancy is required, the system can be double stacked to increase capacity and provide a more suitable platform for heavier equipment or more involved temporary works.
More than just pumping pontoons
Pumping pontoons are one example of this type of setup, but the same principle applies to a much wider range of lifting and specialist works over water.
Floating pontoons can be used to support lifting gantries, spider cranes, access platforms, inspection equipment, pipework, temporary services, tools, materials and work crews.
The main benefit is flexibility. The pontoon can be adapted to suit the task, rather than trying to make the task fit the access available.
Whether you need to support a lifting gantry, house plant on the water or create a safe working platform for equipment and operators, Floating Pontoon Hire can provide a practical solution.
