Our install crews have been flat out in West London for the last few days. Installing 3 pedestrian diversion pontoons on the Grand Union Canal, whilst one of our customers undertake essential works on the canal towpath.
Our customer is undertaking works which involve digging up the towpath along the canal. These works mean that access for pedestrians and cyclists is disrupted. In all we have installed 3 x pontoons measuring 50x2m in length with edge protection on all exposed edges. The pontoons have been positoned alongside the works being undertaken meaning that towpath users can safely dive around the works area and carry on with their journey.
Installing in and around cities comes with its own set of unique challenges, most namely access! Access to the area of works for vans, trailers and crew is practically non existent. Luckily we have the answer to that.
The pontoons were actually launched onto the canal over 3 kilometres from site assembled and then moved into location using a combination of work boats and outboard motors fitted directly to the pontoons.
