It’s been a record-breaking year here at Floating Pontoon Hire — from hours worked to square metres installed, 2025 has been our biggest year yet. We’ve travelled further, built bigger, and delivered more floating pontoons than ever before.
Here’s a little look back on some of the standout projects from 2025.
Reservoirs, reservoirs and more reservoirs!
The hot, dry summer we experienced led to a huge demand for pumping pontoons on reservoirs up and down the country. With water levels dropping and supply systems under pressure, our teams were on the road and on call delivering stable floating platforms to support urgent pumping operations, we installed a record number of reservoir pumping pontoons this year — each one designed to keep essential water movement flowing safely and efficiently throughout. You can take a look at some of dedicated blog articles for Jamestone Quarry and Belmont Reservoir here and if you want to find our more our Pontoon Hire for Submersible Pumps page is the place to go.
Floating social space at Chiswick Park
Summer 2025 gave us the chance to install a floating deck at Chiswick Park for the Enjoy-Work community to enjoy. We’ve worked with the team there for many years, and it’s always a pleasure turning their lakeside ideas into something people can actually use.
The deck created a calm, open space right on the water — perfect for lunch breaks, informal meetings, or simply catching a breather in the sunshine. It was a great example of how our pontoons aren’t just for industrial sites or pumping operations; they can completely transform a space and bring people together.
Going Underground – Manchester tunnel inspections
We even ventured underground this year, working under Manchester Piccadilly Station, where we were brought in to create a safe working platform over the water to house a Mobile Elevated Work Platform.
Using a double-stack pontoon, we built a stable elevated platform capable of supporting the MEWP and all the equipment needed for the works. With limited headroom, uneven water flow and a confined space to operate in, it was a job that needed careful planning and precise installation.
Despite the challenging environment, the team delivered a solid, reliable platform exactly where it was needed — a great example of how adaptable our systems can be, even in the most restrictive locations.
Plant Access at Hayling island nature reserve
January saw us at Hayling Island Nature Reserve, installing a floating access route to move plant and machinery across soft ground and shallow water. The site had no suitable hard access, so a modular pontoon bridge provided a simple, low-impact way for the team to get equipment where it was needed.
The setup handled changing water levels and soft terrain well and allowed the works to progress without disturbing the surrounding environment. It was a practical, tidy job to start the year and a good example of how our pontoons can provide access in places where traditional methods fall short.
2026 Loading……..
Looking back, 2025 really did have a bit of everything. Reservoirs, tunnels, nature reserves, sunny lakeside decks — our pontoons ended up in all sorts of places this year. We’re proud of what the team has achieved and grateful to everyone we’ve worked with along the way. Thanks for being part of our year, and here’s to more great projects, good people and floating solutions in 2026.
