Back in February of 2018 we posted a blog folowing our involvement in bridge repairs in Kexby, North Yorkshire – https://floatingpontoonhire.co.uk/listed-bridge-repairs/ well fast forward 3.5 years and we’re back again. Thankfully nothing gone wrong, just the next phase of the repair works to ensure the bridge which has been a listed structure since 1990 is maintained and future proofed for cyclists and pedestrians – link.
Back in 2018 our pontoons were used to assist with the installation of a steel supports to the 3 arch bridge. It now requires a propping system and remedial works to ensure it remains structurally sound. The work will include piling of the western abutment; rebuilding part of the central pier; replacing the packing on the western arch; painting the steel arch frame on the western arch; and sealing of the surfacing to improve waterproofing.
All of the above work will be undertaken from our pontoons providing access for workforce as well as a platform upn which the steel bridge supports will be lowered by crane and onto the pontoon prior to being floated into place.
