There seems to be a recurring theme to these blogs at the moment.
That theme being that its blinking cold and the canals of the UK are freezing over! A bit of cold and ice though is never going to be enough to stop our brave boys from getting the job done.
The job in question this week, has been a 100 metre long pedestrian diversion on The Grand Union Canal in West London. Our client a nationwide utilities service provider require access to the canal tow path in order to install cabling. The consequence of this work, being that the towpath is inaccessible to pedestrians for the duration of the works. In order to provide pedestrian access whilst the works take place we have installed one of our pontoons alongside the towpath. Allowing pedestrians to divert onto the canal and around the works.
Despite the poor access, our install team were able to install the 100 metre pontoon and all edge protection in a matter of just 5 hours (despite the freezing conditions).
