We’ve blogged previosuly on our experiences of housing pumps on our pontoons, allowing water to be extracted from reservoirs when supplies are running low in the warmer summer months – Moonpool Pontoon for reservoir pump out.
Since that blog we’ve been involved in multiple other such projects and now our pontoons are back on the case, this time in the very North of Scotland on the beautiful Loch Glass.
We were approached earlier this year by a contractor for Scottish Water looking at contigency plans should water levels drop on the Loch and action need to be taken to extract water. Working closely with our client we put together a plan which included undertaking anchoring and buoyancy calculations to ensure the proposed system was up to the task.
The pontoon walkway is a 55m x 2.5m walkway with two 5m x 5m pump heads. The pontoon is made up predominantly of our 1×0.5m modules the pontoon has been built in a brick bond style with the respective modules overlapping each other to increase the strenghth of the structure. Coupled with over 4.5 Ton of anchoring we’re and ensure it remains operational throughout the length of the project.
With extensive experience in such installs you can rest assured we know what we’re doing when it comes to pumping pontoons so get in touch if you have such a requirement.
