We were at Jamestone Quarry near Blackburn last week supplying and installing a 75 metre long access walkway out to a pontoon head housing a pumping gantry. The pumping gantries are being used to dewater the quarry, providing a safe and stable working platform in a challenging environment.
Our modular pontoon system was delivered to site using an articulated haulage vehichle and transported through site on our smaller trailers towed behind a 4×4 vehicle. The pontoons were then assembled on the quarry shoreline upon which we fitted the steel gantry frame. The platform was reinforced with chain blocks, ratchet straps and braces to support the pumping equipment.
The completed pontoon supports a heavy-duty pump and hoses, enabling efficient water removal from the quarry. The system is securely moored and offers safe access for operatives carrying out maintenance.
Floating pontoons offer a flexible, reliable solution for pumping and other water-based works. For more information or to discuss your project, get in touch with our team.
