If you’ve not noticed its been cold this last week, then I can only assume you’re reading this blog on vacation somehwere that isn’t the UK, its been absolutely brass monkeys!
However, it will take a lot more than a bit of cold weather to stop our install crews. Come rain, shine, ice or snow we’ll be all over the country doing what we do. That was just the case this week for one of our crew working on The Grand Union Canal in West London.
We have had a pontoon on hire to a long standing client for the almost 12 months and the works finaly drew to an end this week. As always with working in London, access to jobsites can be tricky and that proved to be the case here. The location in which the pontoon was being used was approximately half a mile up canal from the nearest place we could safely recover the pontoons to our vehicles.
The solution, launch one of our CRT licensed work boats onto the canal and fetch and tow the pontoon from up canal. Simple, right?
Well it would be if the canal wasn’t frozen over! Not to be detered our team cracked on and using the plastic hulled work boat as an ice breaker we were able to retrieve the pontoon from up canal back to the launch location and bring it all safely home.
