Its been a busy start to the year here at Floating Pontoon Hire with bridge inspections and work pontoons aplenty. We’ve also most notably supplied a double stacked bridge allowing plant access to bird nesting islands at Hayling Island Nature Reserve.
The nature reserve which was originaly Oyster beds on the West Coast of Hayling Island offers sanctuary to a wide array of waterbirds. Including Dark-bellied Brent Geese, terns and Whimbrels, as well as passing birds of prey.
We were tasked by our client to provide access to the nesting islands. Allowing them to deposit additional stone in order to counter tidal erosion, such operations are crucial for safeguarding habitats and infrastructure near the coast.

Buoyancy – a double stacked pontoon as in the images featured has ‘safe working load’ capabilities of 350kg per square metre, meaning that tracked dumpers and excavators can easily be accommodated.

Strength – recent tests carried out on our pontoons show that 1 signgle sqm of pontoon can withstand a crush load in excess of 7,000kg! So even where the pontoons are grounded on the beach yuo know you’re in safe hands.

Ease of install – despite comprising of over 330sqm of pontoon in a potentially tircky coastal location, the install itself only took 2 days to complete (breakdown will be even quicker)
